Carl Cerveny Scholarship

The Wheat Ridge Optimist Club is offering an opportunity to one Wheat Ridge High School student to receive the 2016  Carl Cerveny Scholarship Award of a $2,000.00 scholarship to be used for college tuition. More than one student may apply. The winning student will be recognized at an Award Ceremony hosted by the Wheat Ridge Optimists.

The criterion is as follows:

  • Student must be a Wheat Ridge resident or a student at Wheat Ridge High School.
  • The student must be attending college the summer or fall of 2014.
  • The student’s grades must be at least 3.5 GPA.
  • The student is to submit an essay describing their quest for a college education and how they plan to use their degree after graduation.
  • The student must be a legal resident of the United States.
  • A relative of a member of the Wheat Ridge Optimist Club is not eligible.

The $2,000 scholarship will be administered by The Wheat Ridge Foundation and will be placed into the student’s college account immediately after the “Drop Add” date. The student may use the funds at any college of their choice and are not restricted to Colorado institutions.

George Bailey Memorial Scholarship

The George Bailey Memorial Scholarship recognizes a graduate of Lakewood High School who has made an outstanding contribution to his/her school or community and is pursuing studies towards a medical or public health career

The 2013 scholarship recipient is Lilian Nguyen who will be studying Pre-Pharmacy at the University of Colorado – Denver. She is the first recipient of the award.

George E. Bailey graduated from Lakewood High School, and Dr. George P. Bailey was the doctor for sports teams at LHS for many years.
