This program also supports equipment, educational materials and supplies for the Licensed Preschool Program at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.

Eligibility Requirements
Individuals are eligible for a maximum of $150 scholarship funding per calendar year. Participants are required to pay a percentage of the program fee, and material fees are excluded. Residents and non-residents are eligible. Funding is on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarship approval is at the discretion of the scholarship committee. All information is confidential.

In order to apply for scholarship funding, recipients must qualify for the Recreation Discount Program administered by the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center (see below) or must submit in writing an explanation of hardship and financial need using the application form.

Participants qualify for the Recreation Discount Program if they receive financial support in the form of Food Stamps, LEAP Low Income Energy Assistance Program, Medicaid, WIC Women, Infants and Children Supplemental Food Program; SSI Social Security Supplemental Income; SSDI Social Security Disability Income; HCP Health Care Program for Children with Special Needs; HUD Jefferson County Housing Authority; Colorado Child Health Plan; CICP Colorado Indigent Care Plan (formerly Colorado Resident Discount Plan); and TANF Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (formerly AFDC).

Applications are available on the City of Wheat Ridge website at Classes and Programs or at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center.

The Police Department sponsors several programs including:

  • The lockbox program which provides house key lockboxes to citizens who may require periodic welfare checks or emergency assistance by rescue personnel; and
  • The National Night Out celebration sponsored by the City and held at Hayward Park to kick off community-wide block parties to help neighbors become acquainted and unite and to promote crime prevention and drug resistance.
  • Other crime prevention programs

This program has enabled the City to implement the acquisition of artwork in interior and exterior locations accessible to the public for city beautification. The funds are administered by the Cultural Commission. The Foundation accepts donations to support this purpose.

Contributions may be designated in the person’s name.
